Need a "Leaving L.A." Farewell Dinner Venue for End of June

Hi gang,

One of my great food buddies (FTC lurker, and someone I’d categorize as a like-minded devourer from another mother) has declared that he’s moving to Austin.

I am sad for me, yet happy for him, as this represents a great opportunity for my friend.

With that said, a total of six of us will be doing a send-off dinner for my buddy at the end of June. Any reasonably driveable location in Metro L.A./O.C. is fine. One of us is a vegetarian.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @J_L,

You’d probably know more about the great restaurants in LA/OC than most of us! But, is there a price point? Type of cuisine they’d want to partake in before leaving? That might help with suggestions.

Majordomo
Chi Spacca
Park’s BBQ
Odys + Penelope
Osteria Mozza

All good for a party of six and probably unlike anything in Austin (where I recommend Barlata).

Stinkin Rose is the obvious choice.

Ah, yes… I guess $150pp price point. But it could go a bit higher if need be.

Any cuisine I suppose. Just not BBQ/brisket (because Austin).

Stinking Rose? Isn’t that booked solid like 2 months out, given our constant props on this board?!

My list is kind of corny but this is LA to me…

I would send Chef Laurent (Quenioux) an email and see if he can come up with great dinner for you - perfect way to celebrate LA but also a unique dinner

Maybe more than you want to spend, but Somni would be awesome.

I think Taco Maria is the answer

Nothing says he’s open to eating in Orange County like literally saying “Any reasonably driveable location in Metro L.A./O.C. is fine…”

Hey, they don’t teach you how to read before posting in college.

But apparently they do teach you how to delete before someone replies to your original post.

The vegan is the wild card here. If fish is ok, then a sushi spot like Mori seems like a good idea. Or Son of a Gun.
A sort of good general all purpose choice like Redbird is not a bad compromise selection.
Suzanne Goin of Lucques did win a Beard award for outstanding chef.

I deserve this ridicule.
