New Eater Website Design

Reminds me of a cleaner Infatuation now and I’m not loving it. Did this happen today or did I miss something.

At least on my phone it looks fine too me. The one I really hate it The Ringer (podcasts) it’s been a couple months and I still can’t get used to it

It’s buggy, the by line is empty for most articles. They no longer show you an article date making it even harder to find new content to read. They do not order things chronologically, and have not for a while, which makes the removal of dates even worse. Graphically, it’s reasonable and feels more modern, which is probably the intent. Usability is somehow even worse than the previous iteration, which was already not great.

Yeah. I like the way this site looks and scrolls on my phone. Basically the same as Apple News (but I don’t like that it’s divided into pages instead of continuous scroll). Not familiar with the old site.

It’s official I hate it. I tried to give it a fair amount of time to see if I’d get used to it and nope it sucks

I think my expectations were so low from all the comments here, but I don’t hate it as much as everyone else. There are some definite regressions as others pointed out, but it’s not as catastrophic as plenty of other site redesigns I’ve suffered through.

I’ve looked at a dozen or so Eater stories since the redesign and haven’t noticed a difference.

I rarely browse the site, just go to articles from links here or in email.

And shortly after the 20th anniversary, a big round of layoffs and a reorganization at Eater:
