Northeast Los Angeles eats

don’t want to suffer through IG stories, but hope he mentions the biggest offenders - mushy, crumbly tortillas and cooking the asada on under-ignited mesquite leaving a super sooty taste.

Thanks for the heads up!!! That is super close to where we are staying! Will have to check it out!

If you are in the area during the week at lunchtime, there is a truck right off the freeway at fig called Antojitos Judith. It always has folks and I was hoping it would be a DF style antojitos truck. I finally had a chance this weekend to check it out!

It turned out to be a Chapín Plate truck run by a group of ladies!! Hearty combo plates of beef and chorizo dishes with Guatemalan flare. That was too much for me, so I saw Shrimp Tacos were on their specials menu so ordered two of those. At $3.50 per, it was not a bad price. That seems to be the going rate for seafood tacos nowadays.

I got them to go and had to rush back to work so no pics. The shrimp were not fried, but a la plancha. The tacos were some quesotaco style so the shrimp with onion, salsa, creama and cabbage were on top of a nice mound of melted and crispy cheese. So they were quite substantial!

Glad I got to try them, although next time I’ll get a Torta. One of the workers ordering got one and it was HUGE!

What is that?

Chapín means Guatemalan. So Guatemalan style combo plates.
