Fair enough! I really appreciate your reviews and your tendency to not fall into group think. I ain’t racing back to Carnal after being impressed by a lunch. The dinner I had was meh.
Also think I could one hundred percent be wanting a restaurant like that to be better than it is. The lack of destination sit-down Mexican spots in LA bums me out.
not too shocked, feels like it’s the type of pie that wouldn’t get a lot of repeat visitors. I was certainly one and done. good to know re: Park Pizza though!
I really like the concepts but I think it fell short on the execution. The salads were great. I love that they use lap cheong. Sad to see business closed down.
Hi there, I’m looking for a ladies dinner spot for tomorrow. We’ll be going to The Other Art Fair which is put up in Glassell Park.
Any suggestions for a moderately priced early dinner spot? Park Pizza has a few fans on this board, but the website made me wonder if it’s take out only?
I thought park pizza was really good, it’s not takeout only but for your purposes I think it might as well be - there are like 3 two tops out on the sidewalk. But you can take it across the street to Verdugo Bar and eat there, which might be fun.
You could also check out Wife and Somm, Barra Santos, Capri Club, Aunty Yvette’s, though they won’t be as affordable as Park Pizza. More in that category I like Skaf’s, CaCao, Oinkster, Belle’s, Greyhound. Taco/Social might actually be a good fit - despite the slightly weird corporate feel of it and Orange County energy the food is pretty solid, there are lots of drink options, and the space is very functional and approachable (I’ve been there for several group meals with kids and adults).
Been awhile since I been back in Highland Park. Did a quick visit to Sibylline Records in Pasadena than headed over here to Delicias Bakery at Fig x Ave 56.
I think they low key have some of the best Mexican vegan food in Los Angeles.
The chilaquiles was tasty just wished they didn’t put a lid on it when I ordered it for here. Also got a sandwich, black rice horchata, and cafe de olla latte with oat.
Mexican breakfast served all day!!
Didn’t stop in but walking past Sam’s Place on Monte Vista twice I couldn’t help but noticed…….
Candlelights, wood, good vibes, great taste in music. Looks like it’s a natural wine bar with good food. I’ll have to try their Japanese sweet potatoes with tahini. Don’t drink but I really like Japanese sweet potatoes and tahini. I’m in the neighborhood anyways at least 1-2 times a month. Maybe I’ll make a quick weekday jaunt. Anyone been? Looks like the new cool kids club.
