Some good bites here at a great price point. Favorites were Cameron’s salvaje and the pulpo. Not moved by the mahi. Also could use a salsa bar like the OG. Can imagine the summer lines will be long and hot.
I actually went also, and had a similar experience. Fried stuff was good, though overdressed with crema and guac - the double up on cold creaminess muted the flavors, would choose one or the other next time. Sweet potatoes were good, mushrooms were fine, mahi was not good, dry and meager with no advertised charcoal. Would go back for fried stuff but still not fully scratching the Baja itch.
Stopped by Sam’s Place the other day, finally around at a time that made sense
Not pictured is a quick splash of the “Sanguine” right before some vermouth, sloshy grapefruit to cut through the saucisson scooping up cornichon butter, the sourdough scooping up scamp sauce
Comet Over Delphi
New coffeeshop at Fig x Ave 59. Looks beautiful!
Like Sam’s Place a lot right now. It’s gotten mellower, meaning I could get an inside table at 8 last night. Salad, sweet potato, steak is a good dinner
Hoping to make it in soon and try that sweet potato. Been obsessed with sweet potatoes since living in the South Bay. The Japanese markets has roasted sweet potatoes ready to eat and I always grab one to snack on
This is the superior ultimate snack
Tips for slowest nights?
you should be fine on a weekday right now that isn’t Friday. I think if you go around 8, that’s even safer.
Delco Rose Hoagies now at Carla’s, Fri and Sat, 1100-1600 or until sold out
Any good?
I love Delco Rose hoagies, and Josh Agran is such a nice guy. Glad I can go on Sat to get one because Fri 12-3 at Echo Park Lake was so hard to get to.
Seems to be some movement on the old Cafe Beaujolais space on Colorado in Eagle Rock – Loop Espresso Club returning?
IG: Loop Espresso Club on Instagram: "give it up to me, you know i've been waiting too long"
Also finally got around to looking up the new spot taking over the old Mia Sushi on Eagle Rock Blvd. Sushi Caya – looks to be Taiwanese/Japanese fusion? ![]()
Heard rumors that Barra santos is getting a full liquor license and expanding into the neighboring space. Would be fun.
The previous space was Shin which closed… so it makes sense…
Lucky Catsu, Lincoln Heights. On Mission across from the park. Ghost kitchen with other vegan spots.
This was fire!
Looks like Obet and Del’s Coffee took over the old Kitchen Mouse spot on north Fig. Also, didn’t know this was Mt. Washington? ::shrug::
lol I’m not sure Mount Washington is zoned for any businesses, but if any business “could” claim Mount Washington, it’s probably those in that center…
Barra Santos?
