Anyone ever heard of spaccio salumeria by truffle bros? Any good?

If you happen to be going to Surfas or otherwise in the area it’s worth checking out. It’s a small shop for a company that mostly sells fresh truffles and truffle oil to restaurants.. They have good prices on high quality Italian pantry staples as well.

The sandwiches aren’t bad at all. They use quality meats they import themselves. They are lightly filled in the European manner.

seconding everything that @aaqjr said; i’ve eaten two sandwiches there and they were both good. the fellows in line ahead of me said they’ve eaten there one hundred times, and keep coming back for the pizzas. the pizzas looked ok. i picked up some delicious cured anchovies, carnaroli rice, and some nice pastas.

i think this sandwich was the porchetta, which i would skip next time. too unctuous. partner got the spicy salame, which was better. lentil soup was great.

I love their meatball sandwiches. When you order a sandwich you have a choice of salad or soup. Their soups are so good and they give you a good size cup so often I have it for lunch the next day.

It’s a huge hang out for the Italian expat community. They also sell fresh pasta and various Italian goods. I am over by Surfas often so it’s convenient for me for Mortadella.

The only thing is that it’s a M-F lunch operation. That is why I think it’s not recommended often. It’s a total IYKYK sort of place.

Korean BBQ at Pigya was rich and flavorful. The pork gyu set was a good deal, $109 for 4 people, and it came with a ton of food. We all left satisfied and full.

Pork belly, pork jowl, beef short rib, wagyu beef belly, wagyu carpaccio, steamed egg, japchae, oi muchim, kimchi fried rice w/ mozz, hangover ramen.

There’s a Nawal staging (Syrian falafel) in Elysian park this Sunday from noon - 5PM. The text below is directly from their Instagram account. I’m going to make an extra effort to go since it’ll likely be a beautiful afternoon and funds going to a good cause.

Join us this Sunday in Elysian Park for a neighborhood fundraiser!

Enjoy a traditional Syrian–Circassian falafel recipe passed down through generations—the best you’ll ever taste. Inspired by the Caucasus Mountains and the streets of Syria, these flavors bring energy, history, and heart to every bite.

Each falafel sold helps feed 3–4 people experiencing food insecurity.

Nawal continues their tradition of hosting benefit events to support local organizations in times of need.

We need your support more than ever—see you Sunday in Elysian.

Is it just falafel? Not that I’m opposed to falafel.

I’m not sure - their IG doesn’t have many details. Here’s an FTC post from 2022 with photos of more of their offerings.
