Which places?
Love pupusas, and this is not too far!!! Thanks for the intel!!!
Noodles:
Luyu, Xian Biang Biang, Lan, 1919, Lao Xi, Northern Cafe MP, Chong Qing Special Noodle, JTYH, Dolan’s off the top of my head.
N-M Noodle Grill, and 3 He Noodles are some newcomers that I have tried yet.
Dammit, I forgot about this one. Thanks @JeetKuneBao
They do have a few items beyond the usual Shandong dumpling array. Even Earthen didn’t have the amount of Shandong dishes as the misnamed Beijing Duck House on Rosemead, or the place at the edge of the plaza at Gale & Nogales (the name of which escapes me), both of which had some truly heavy duty Shandong dishes, such as Shandong-style sausage and sea intestine!
I think it’s New Golden City. They got Earthen’s greatest hits (the chicken and green onion pancakes). Never been. I am curious about the green onion pancakes. Unfortunately most places that have green onion pancakes put little to no green onions. (Is that a Mainlander thing?)
Wait @JeetKuneBao are you saying that the Earthen team are operating at New Golden City? With the chicken, scallion pancakes and other dishes?
I can’t confirm if they are the same but they both co-existed for awhile. Anyone tried them?
3 He serves delicious Henan fare, which can be hard to find. Their signature beef noodles are outstanding!
The menu on Yelp and pictures of the house chicken look very familiar. I will report back soon.
Went to Nok’s Kitchen today for the first time in a little while and it is still fantastic. If I lived nearby I’d be there like every damn day.
Nice! Thanks for reporting back! The noodles look great. Any pics from your visit?
I’m never in Westminster, but, in the off chance I am, what do you like there?
Signature Toripaitan at Mensho - really good, wish it had even more broth
What are the best ramen gems in LA?
This month’s Yama-san popup featured a “Japanese Cioppino Ramen” which was quite memorable…
#Mottainai
Doña Inez (DTLA). So good. I’m the only non-Latino I’ve ever seen there in 50+ visits. But it’s always buzzing around lunch time.
Midoh continues to be as close as we are going to get to Japanese Dennys. Not trying to hype it up but it is a good place to get that kind of comfort food. Bonus was seeing some college age kids in Chainsaw Man cosplay
I have heard wonderful things about the pizza dough at the Eagle Rock Italian Bakery.
Not fancy but the fresh pizza dough from Vons is surprisingly decent. Better and not as tough and salty as Trader Joe’s.
And not on the Eastside (that I can tell) but the Aldi’s pizza dough is also more than decent. And cheap!
I will say, if you have the space, you might want to pick up a giant bag of high gluten flour and make your own. It’s very easy once you have the right flour. Can be done in a food processor, a mixer or, for a lighter and not NYC dough, a simple no knead.
Happy pizza-ing!
I believe that distinction belongs to Suehiro Cafe.
