Pasadena Updates

We went to Dos Besos last week and one of their specials was a grilled (fresh) sardine salad–fresh sardines are really tough to find outside of a sushi bar, so this was a real treat. I’ve always liked their octopus dish, and the paellas are great. But we weren’t so thrilled with the jamon Iberico de bellota that night, it tasted like it came from a package, pre-sliced, very much not wotrh the price. But the pan con tomate we ordered with it was lovely. And if you decide to stay put there for dessert (or want a first dessert there before Pez!), do try the almond cake or the bread pudding.

I went to Lunasia this weekend and will never ever go back. Horrible food and ridiculously bad service.

I’ve only ordered takeout for my mom. I’ve never actually stepped foot in the Pasadena location. I’ve been to the Alhambra location and it was just okay. I can get better dim sum in sgv.

Can’t believe this hasn’t been posted yet. From Smorgasbord and 3rd Street, Saucy Chick Goat Mafia, Indian Mexican Fusion that works :+1:.

Stopped by on Saturday later afternoon and every table was full.

No pics, but it’s delicious. $15 off $45 InKind deal in play.

I was on Maui recently and noted the high prices (but quality food). But then they have to bring things in and have had to deal with the aftermath of the fire.
So when I went to Mijares tonight I was somewhat shocked that prices (as reflected on a new laminated menu) had risen by about 10%. What up?

It’s all over. The latest culprit squeezing business is insurance rate increases. Insurance rates had been on hold since COVID and this year the companies were allowed to raise rate or just straight drop people. It’s affecting individuals and businesses. It can be a real nightmare as I myself found out. :pensive:

Woodland Hills, Redondo Beach, and now Pasadena?

At the intersection of San Gabriel and Colorado boulevards, in the tiny strip mall at the southWEST corner (with the pawnshop, cleaners, etc. and the tiny parking lot) where (years ago) there was Romeo’s Pizza. (Followed by several other restaurants that didn’t make it - some I’m uncertain even opened.)

(Edited to fix the location.)
