Worth going to over stopping at Jin?
Very different. Jin is about the purity of tea and boba.
Macu specializes in fruit added teas. Which are all the trend right now.
Right now itās hot so I lean toward these fresh fruit drinks

Feel like Rowland Heights is also a strong contender for concentrated good boba places.
Old town is a 3 block radius though. And honestly, thereās nothing in Rowland Heights that reaches the peak of Jin which to me is the crown jewel of boba tea in LA. Then Cha Redefined, Macu, Prolece.
I do love Tenju tea in rowland though, and I get it almost everytime I go.

Any recommendations for what to order at Jin?
if you like something with a soft waxy texture then the beauty oolong, otherwise I like the high mountain oolong for a darker flavor
quarter sweet - regular ice - boba. No milk etc

I went pretty late last night after meeting a friend at blind donkey so I had to stick to the caffeine free menu - but the boba itself blew me away with how good the brown sugar flavor was without being overpowering.
Def will be back this week to work through their tea varieties, itās such a cool shop.

their boba is PEAK boba. No other shop has a better tapioca pearl. People keep talking about chicha san chen but they have a terrible tapioca pearl. You gotta bring the whole experience if youāre just serving tea.
Places like Cha Redfined you donāt care what their boba pearls are like cause they are serving more complex drinks that get ruined by boba, but a classic tea spot - you gotta have excellent boba to be truly great.

I think this is the order I need to do.
I never put it together but it makes sense now. If they are using high quality tea from Taiwan why am I drinking it as a milk tea when the flavor is going to be muted.
