Cali Marg was phenomenal. Savoy was a revelation.
Warrior: Solid restaurant. I like the pizzas but not as much as board consensus. Ingredients are good but not exceptional. The crust lacks flavor and texture to my tastes. It does serve as a good vehicle for the juicy margherita, which I much prefer to the patate. The tricolore salad is passable.
Peony: I like the pizzas but don’t love them.
Genuinely curious how you make this assessment. Do you know what flour they use? You have opinions on like Caputo Nuvola vs Central Milling 00 vs Cairnsping Trailblazer?
Me too. They have an adjustable light feature and make great bedside table and desk lamps.
Based on the cheeses primarily. I was directly comparing to the flavors of the cheeses I ate at Mother Wolf the day before and there was a night and day difference. Peony and I thought Mother Wolf pizza was better despite a neutral crust. For an oranges to oranges comparison, the buffalo mozzarella at Mother Wolf had much better flavor.
I thought the tomatoes on the margherita were perfect, for what it’s worth. Loved the flavor.
The vegetables in the tricolore salad were solid supermarket quality. Not bad but obviously not on par with Mozza.
Just not a HUGE Pizzeria Sei fan. But I’m not dissing the place. It probably is around #6 pizza in LA for me. I would definitely go back.
Sei and Motherwolf use the same cheese flown in from Italy through the same purveyor ![]()
What’s 2-5 for you then in terms of pizza in LA?
Here is what I was thinking:
#1 Leopardo
#2 Gjelina
#3 Mother Wolf
#4 Pizzeria Mozza
#5 Bestia (not a big fan generally but I love their pizzas)
#6 Pizzeria Sei
You must really love Mozza to list them twice. ![]()
Sorry, edited.
I strongly disagree with your philosophy on grocery store carts and this entirely personal pizza list, but I do genuinely appreciate your contrarian opinion around here.
I found them at the Sunday Hollywood farmers market. If you enter off the street that trader Joe’s is on, at the first intersection, make a right and it’s the first stand on the left.
When you make it post in one of the home cooking threads!

Just saw the next one is on August 27…
Anyone know if FTC-ers might still have an in for seats? Would love to try to grab 2 without going thru the resy rigmarole…even if it’s for the next one or one after
Missed again - anyone get lucky?
The 08/27/24 Omakasei displayed sold out before the noon ticket release time and didn’t budge once the clock actually struck 12. Wondering if the seats were already spoken for and this is just starting to become a spurious formality ![]()
The link that is posted on their instagram is a preview page, which probably doesn’t update at 12 - I believe you gotta enter from the normal Resy page.
How come I Can’t order the Lamb pizza and specialties online?
I’m guessing there is a logistical reason why they don’t do it. But maybe you can talk then into making an exception if you can get someone on the phone
