I wonder if the service charge of 10% is Tock’s or Republique’s. If Tock’s, then you might save a little by calling your order in. Does anybody know?
I think it is Tock’s. I picked up there last weekend and there was no service charge, although I tipped them anyway.
Last day for chicken dinner and alc items is 4/4.

The République team wants to thank the LA community for showing such strong support during these last few weeks.
The safety and well-being of our staff and patrons is of utmost importance to us. As such, we are scaling down our offerings to protect the health and safety of our team. Therefore, the last day we will be serving our CHICKEN DINNER MEAL + additional a la carte items is Saturday, April 4th .
We will, however, continue our PASTRY PROGRAM & MARKET selling produce boxes directly from farmers. We plan to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and will pivot as needed over the coming weeks.
We encourage you to place delivery / take-out orders on GrubHub and Postmates through Saturday. Please also make sure to follow us on social media (@republiquela) for ongoing updates.
We sincerely thank you for your encouragement thus far, and hope to see you all soon. Stay safe & healthy!

Chicken was over cooked, cacio e Pepe was not very good. Best thing was the baguette with butter. Green goddess dressing was second best.
Basque cheesecake not even in the same ball park as pasjoli. Not a great effort but I do enjoy this restaurant and their food and pastries are always on point so I give them a pass. Chalking it up to the covid crisis but wanted to show support before they shut down dinner service
Wow your chicken looks nothing like the chicken in their IG post
my take out was quite disappointing.
This is what mine looked like too. It was dry and a letdown; we had CCC and it was better chicken.
Hopefully it’s just because they are understaffed. Looking forward to a return visit when the Covid crisis is all over.
Did you pick it up or have it delivered? When we had the chicken dinner it was perfect, but I picked it up. Having never used any of the delivery services I am not sure if they keep items heated which would dry out chicken. That said when we had takeout from one of our favorite places in the Valley it was nowhere close to the usual quality so it may just be that the changes the lockdown require torpedo the usual quality.
I picked up and had it quickly right after.
For what it’s worth, my family and I enjoyed our Republique’s takeout chicken dinner this past Saturday. Pick-up was easy. The freshly baked baguettes and cookies called to me, so I also got two baguettes and two giant chocolate chip cookies to go.
At home, I had to heat the chicken and pasta up a bit. A generous pouring from the (provided) container of their marvelous au jus (see 2 o’clock of the main plate in my crappy photo) did absolute wonders for the entire plate - and I do agree that the chicken would have been a bit too dry without the addition of the au jus. As expected, the baguette and butter were fantastic.
The Basque cheesecake that came with the dinner was just not as good as my previous slice.
The chocolate chip cookies made for a delightful backup dessert, though.
Overall, the entire meal was a pretty solid takeout experience which proudly upheld the Republique brand in my eyes (and mouth).
So glad yours was good!
Stay safe my friend!!
My chicken dinner was good too. Not dry and heated beautifully inside the box in the oven. I liked the green goddess dressing. The cacio e pepe was a tad bland, but I think that was my fault in the reheating process.
I had both Republique’s and Pasjoli’s Basque Cheesecake side by side and I give a huge edge to Republique. Republique’s had great caramelization while Pasjoli’s was a little blond, a little too undercooked and on the edge of being cloyingly sweet.
Maybe you made the same mistake as I did, on first go-round with the rigatoni.
Because the rest of the meal was go GIANT I was only going to have a small portion of rigatoni, so I took just a little bit from the top for my dinner plate, and saved the rest, in the box it came in.
Next day, when I eagerly went to eat the rest, I found a ton of sauce at the bottom that I had missed and when properly mixed made the dish so much better!
Duh…

Re-heating pasta at home is tricky. Had that same problem happen to me, the sauce finds a way to hide from you.
Their crab pasta is excellent. Would love to have that to go.
I went this morning for my 9:00 slot, and it was pretty orderly. I estimate that ~8-9 people get to order at each slot. Each pickup may have taken 2-3 minutes. It’s really quick because everybody is prepaid and nobody is hemming and hawing about what to get once you reach the counter. No signature or pens to sign, and no cash changes hands. Mine took a little longer because they were still baking a kouign amann I ordered- so I got it fresh out of the oven - no complaints here! My uneducated opinion is that short of curbside pickup, which they may still offer (edit: confirmed they can not do curbside at this point) this is the safest you’ll get from a process standpoint for takeout.
I asked about the mango pie, and was told that likely will not be happening until the fully reopen, since mangos are hard to come by right now.
Grateful that they’ve decided to remain open to provide such wonderful treats to the community (and would have completely understood if they had decided to stay closed).
I guess “taking a short break” didn’t actually mean resting. It meant regrouping and coming up with a new plan.
The Dynamic Duo!
Nope… I’m not sure how other delivery services work but you can track your Postmates order from the time you order until you receive it (order received, preparing, ready for pickup, picked up, route taken, I’m here!). They even let you know if they have another stop. Maybe steamed skin from the box, but sorry to say, if chicken is dry it’s a cooking issue. One caveat, you gotta’ be careful not to order close to closing - then you might get the dregs.
Your skin looks way better @J_L. On @hungryhungryhippos I have to agree with the California Chicken Cafe comparison.
Aw shucks, Cookie, thanks! I try to hydrate and avoid excess sun. But the severe sleep deprivation these days isn’t helping.
Oh… you were referring to my chicken.
lol
