Restaurants - Delivery or Pick Up Options

Damn that is mindblowing for 24 different bites of food…wow

Not a restaurant, but in Epicurus’ latest email they have flour and yeast. Headed there tomorrow morning.

Yesterday I did curbside pickup at Spoon by H for dosirak and maple cake.

Absolutely phenomenal. Everything was delicious, I ate so much that I passed out on my sofa in a food coma (my cats were very pleased), and I have a full meal of the leftovers today. The maple cake was excellent and I have leftovers of that too for breakfast.

I called in, paid over the phone including tip with credit card, parked at a scheduled time, popped my trunk, and they put the bag in the trunk. Totally safe for both me and them.

I can’t recommend this highly enough. I took the box outside for a solitary picnic, and felt completely happy for probably the first time all month.

This was posted in an article in NYT food section.

Another food delivery service, Mercato — along with DoorDash, which makes the deliveries — has announced that it will waive delivery charges for all people 60 years of age or older. The offer will be in effect at least until May 7. When ordering from any of Mercato’s more than 900 affiliated businesses, mostly independent food stores, you have to sign up for the free trial of Mercato Green membership, add the code “OVER60” and then enter your date of birth.

How far do you have to all ahead?

I just called in that day.

The Mercato website says it delivers to thousands of zip codes from hundreds of shops…but it automatically defaults to the zip code 91030 and won’t accept my zip code. Is delivery really that limited in LA or am I missing something/doing something wrong?

I think it’s an error with the site for you, maybe try on a different browser? It worked for me (though we ended up not doing Mercato and just going with a Ralph’s delivery on Tuesday, with a slight top-up from Erewhon today)

Yeah! That’s a fun thing about Clementine @Rachel. As busy as they are they don’t rest on their laurels - promotions, new advertising, pie contests, tea parties, whimsical treats and decor. I get so distracted when I go inside. I don’t know who is behind all this but they should be bottled and sold to others thinking of opening the same type of spot.

P.S. I can only speak for the Ensley location - others might be a different experience.

This is who is “behind” Clementine - Annie Miler. One of the loveliest people one could ever meet. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does.
And there is only one location.

Oh yeah, that’s right. :hearts: I’d like to visit her brain - sweet, talented, creative, driven. It’s hard to believe she came up with and creates all that herself.

One thing I wanted to note on my report is they (she) don’t skimp on staff - there are a lot of employees (like Howlin’ Ray’s). Really smart. I have a couple of young chefs in my family and their biggest complaint is most places are understaffed and wring every drop out of their employees - a lot of turnover.

P.S. There are at least 2 other locations in commercial buildings with the Clementine name. Licensing?

Clementine has two locations - the original on Ensley and one in UTA Plaza in Beverly Hills. The BH location is currently closed (since UTA is not working on the premises).

Annie is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. The recent turn of events has really shown how creative she is and how responsive she is to the needs of the community.

I was able to pick up a container of much-sought-after yeast at Clementine this week! Unless my market luck changes, I’ll be back next week to pick up some flour and some food as well.

Anyone ever done takeout from Coni’ Seafood? I’ve still never tried it and the lack of traffic is making this seem like the opportune time.

Do it! :yum:

I saw on IG that Sergio is taking this time to upgrade his spot. We need a 106 Seafood Underground Redux when the cloud of C19 is lifted!

Never knew about BH!

THANK YOU!! I’m not computer-savvy. Was able to sign in with a different browser, will now try and place an order!

It also looks like he’s doing takeout still, though I haven’t verified.

Not sure where you are but Epicurus has flour and yeast. I picked up 5lb bags of organic Giusto’s all purpose and high protein bread flour today. They have yeast as well, but I have plenty of that. Its selling out quickly, but they are expecting more.

Thanks for the tip! If I lived closer, I would go to Epicurus. I’ll keep it in mind in case I feel like a field trip!
