Samyang: Denmark recalls Korean ramen for being too spicy

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administrationsaid it had assessed the levels of capsaicin in a single packet to be “so high that they pose a risk of the consumer developing acute poisoning”.

“If you have the products, you should discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased,” it said in a statement.

It also emphasised the warning for children, for whom extremely spicy food can cause harm.

Samyang Foods’ stock price has soared 70% in recent months after its Buldak carbonara ramen went viral on TikTok, with the product becoming so popular in the US there were reports of shortages.

Celebrities such as Cardi B have posted stories online about searching for longer than 30 minutes to find the instant noodles.

I’m puzzled by the “poisonous.” Causing gastric distress, excessive sweating, burning sensations, etc make sense. But it being a poison?

I bought some and really enjoyed it. Had no idea about it’s popularity until later. Just let myself be taken in by a huge display at a Korean market
