Santa Monica is worse than LA in this respect, from my prior conversations with restauranteurs…
Yea for sure. I was speaking about LA in broader terms. Well aware that SM specifically is worse - for permitting for restaurants, real estate…you name it.
Has anyone tried the Spaghetti Sunday dinner at the Georgian? Debating trying it out but don’t know how their food is in general.
$65: “Every guest will start with house-made garlic bread, Caesar salad, and our renowned spaghetti and red sauce. In addition, each diner will choose from Italian meatballs, chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, branzino, or upgrade to our signature New York strip to accompany their meal. We know you saved room for dessert because each patron will have the choice of a brownie served with vanilla gelato, warm chocolate chip cookies or vanilla gelato.”
I have.
I would go for the vibe and Old Hollywood history. The food is just fine, though.
“Pizza Fling” signage just went up next to Palms’n’Patties, Katsu Bar, and Paderia. No idea. I would’ve bet against any locations on that corner, but they all seem to be thriving!
Palms n Patties is so mediocre
I don’t eat red meat, so there’s nothing on the menu for me. Nonetheless, I’ve been amazed by the crowds it draws.
Went to the opening party at Diner Antonette last night. It opens officially today, June 17, for dinner. I believe breakfast is in the plans at some point. There’s a big wine shop (I hear tastings are in the works) attached to the diner, and a large atrium in the back— all where the Vienna Pastry shop once occupied.
There’s a shop carrying rather bizarre items like tea towels and mugs - not upscale items, nor imported olive oil and condiments like Zinque’s shop. Just books and novelty toys. Strange use of space. I didn’t see one thing I would buy.
Forgot to take a photo of the menu, but it has a lot of my favorite things from the Ingo’s menu like their crispy Brussel sprouts, the filet, burger – similar to Misfit. The chili they served last night with crispy sliced potatoes was outstanding.
Same owners?
Have they taken over the old bakery next door?
Nothing to do with Zinque, was just comparing a restaurant with a large shop as part of the business. It’s the same owner as Misfit.
Shop and atrium take up old bakery.
Yikes.
After looking at the menu I can’t think of a new restaurant in LA I want to try less. Unless this place gets rave reviews I’m a hard pass. And unless this place gets rave reviews I can’t see it being long for this world.
I want it to do well, I want it to succeed – I love Ingo’s. But everything about this new iteration feels so out of touch. I hope they make adjustments.
The menu is not particularly interesting to me, but are the prices really that bad, given the geographic area? I mean, $24 for a “fancy” burger + fries seems pretty standard to me (unfortunately).
Yeah, these didn’t strike me as exorbitant. Almost sounds like west side Bar Etoile
Well, when it was Ingos, I believe I paid $8 for the Brussels sprouts which are now $24. In fact it’s the sides and starter prices that are so egregious. $14 for a roasted garlic head!
Other than for the burger, I can’t see myself ever going here over RC with those prices.
Most of the prices seem unremarkable. Things have gone up so much in the last few years.
Seems almost perfectly in line with Hillstone
