Santa Monica random updates

Nostalgia but still sad to see it go. It’s a good location so hopefully something new moves in soon.

LOL - so true!

H & H Bagels on Montana looks super close to opening. Snapped these on my walk this afternoon. Probably belongs in bagels thread also…

Looks like one is opening in Echo Park, too.

Coming from the Bay Area, Pacific Catch is fine but nothing phenomenal. Solid seafood house with your basics done right. I like to take my older family members there and it always seems to work out well.

A 2nd Santa Monica location for Tartine has opened on Lincoln just south of Ashland. Not really sure why they need a 2nd location in Santa Monica but… ::shrug::

That Tartine has been open for a while. It’s great for when I’m getting my car washed.

Will echo that it’s been open for a bit. It’s just OK.

Yeah, that’s what I felt about the first Santa Monica location.

Places like Petit Grain are much more appealing to me, so I haven’t felt the need to return.

BTW, Petit Grain is apparently trying to set themselves up for bread-making.

Are they going to expand? I can’t imagine they have the oven space!

I do not know.

Partner overheard the (presumed) owner saying something about waiting for permitting b/f being able to bake bread? I have no idea what that means.

I’ve bought milk bread at petit grain and one day they had a few sourdough loaves but looks like it’s sparse/occasional for now

The pink place on Montana at Euclid - Plage something or other - is expanding. Luxxe on Montana at 10th is also expanding. There’s a good bakery/coffee shop that’s fairly newish on Montana at 7th (next to the Massage Place) called Calvin that’s quite good.
Best kept secret is the bakery/coffee shop at St Monica’s Church called Holy Grounds that is essentially an Urth Cafe since the baked goods and coffee come from Urth.
