Somni 2.0 - weho

I have a 4 person res on Dec 19th in my cart if anybody wants it. I leave for Japan that day. 5 mins left on the timer. DM me your cell # if you want it

Or, even better, if anyone snagged Dec 18, would rather do a trade…

Nvm, computer glitched out, it’s gone

Welp I guess I’m booking the private table for the 18th.

Looks like the only option at this point. Tough stuff. Botted out? Can’t exactly tell yet.

No, it was not botted. It went live delayed by a few minutes. There was a 5ish minute period where you could easily get a reservation, and then sporadic availability for the subsequent 15 minute period as stuff would expire out of people’s carts.

And as @mzonelli said, they didn’t open reservations until mid-December - December 18 to be exact. I think a lot of people tried for earlier in December not knowing that. Kind of a bad move by Somni, they should have specified ahead of time, they made it sound like it was opening December 1.

I doubt that, I think the reservations only really started for mid december so there weren’t too many to begin with and I was able to pull some pretty late in the game

I’m curious how many of the dishes will be the same more or less as the old Somni menu
vs completely new ones. Based on the pictures they’re promoting, a lot of the same dishes.

For ease of future reference, here is the link to my original Somni FTC pictorial essay, replete with photos of the old dishes…

I need a few intrepid diners to join me in the Somni private room in late December (after Christmas). Yes, it’s $1Kpp (apologies ahead of time for the sticker shock). Nonetheless, message me if you are interested. I’d much rather share the experience with fellow FTCers.

EDIT: Update: Unfortunately, I had to cancel that Somni reservation due to a schedule conflict.

Damn, blast from the past. Everyone looks so young in those pictures, strenuous 6 years. I miss how easy it was to get in then

I feel like the private room isn’t too bad of a deal. It’s really just a minimum. If your group enjoys wine it won’t be too hard to reach.

Does anyone have a guess as to when the next round of reservations might open for after December?

I was told the plan is end of the month, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets pushed to beginning of December.

Appreciate your response! I guess we’ll just wait and see  Great to have a ballpark, though!

They will definitely be ready for the scheduled opening date of December 18. Let’s see if they put up first half of December and/or November reservations.

I’d like to book the private room opening week but only need 1-2 spots. If anyone wants to team up shoot me a DM.

for 1K?

The private room is $995 per person (before tax and service fee) which includes wine pairing.

A regular seat is $495 per person (before tax and service fee) which does not include wine pairing.
Wine pairing is $350 per person (before tax and service fee).
A regular seat with meal and wine pairing is therefore $845 per person (before tax and service fee).

Private room w/wine pairing: $995
Regular seat w/ wine pairing: $845
The private room is $150 more per person (before tax and service fee) than a regular seat with meal + wine pairing.

It ain’t cheap! But the private room is not too much more than a regular seat, assuming you were planning to add on the wine pairing.

Is Somni 2.0 the most expensive restaurant in LA?

Hayato is $400 (meal only, before tax and service).

Yelp shows that Urasawa is permanently closed.

Am I missing any contenders?

morihiro also 400 for the counter
