Minor correction, Del Rey location on Centinela.
They now have 3 locations - Inglewood, Del Rey, Hermosa Beach
Thanks for the update. It’s been a minute, hope the Del Rey location still has the goods.
lol you think someone would be so confused as to say Inglewood but actually mean coni seafood off centinela?
That area is straight up Del Rey…
Garlic High torrance opens in the tokyo central market on PCH and Hawthorne. I think it’s owned by the previous ramen owners as they have the same social media page with just a new name. It’s “Jiro style” ramen with garlic, boo heavy pork based broths. Let’s get some nuance in ramen
ugh, another heavy ramen place…
in that plaza, we did have a nice meal at Pasta Allegro. The tuna in tomato sauce was very nice. Not too heavy, no sweetness, which I hate in Japanese pastas, and the spaghetti was actually perfectly al dente!
Have you been to Josui?
Yes I enjoy josui but its at least 30ish min from the house without traffic so it’s tough to go
Kim’s bbq
Loved it! High quality meats and banchan. Run by a nice husband and wife that cook the meat for you. A tad pricey but the food was awesome will be back.
Pig ears and spicy beef from Sue’s kitchen. Still good and you get a huge portion if you only order meats, got yelled at in Chinese for using a credit card. He told that they dont make any money due to all the fees and their pricing made me feel bad I tipped a dollar. Will bring cash next time lol
They are trapped.
Yeah that’s why I tipped just to help cover the cost. If their margins are that thin they should raise prices though.
My guess is they are apprehensive raising prices due to lack of foot traffic. Also seems like they are stuck at that location. Trapped.
anybody know where Sergio is these days? i lost track of him after he closed that outdoor spot at 4549 Imperial, after closing that backyard spot
I had read either on insta or a publication they were going to reopen but not sure maybe plans changed?
Gingers Ice Cream @js76wisco thanks for the rec.
It’s in downtown Gundo right next to Jame.
Try this vegan (coconut based) pickled strawberry blueberry pie flavor. Really tasty and one of the more interesting flavors I come across.
I agree with @js76wisco there is a lot of vegan flavors here more than a usual shop (Awan would be an exception) would have.
yeah, damn. i also heard plans he would re-open somewhere, but nothing since.. he shuttered that spot largely because the inside situation there was fucked (nobody could sit inside, even for the main restaurant), and he was operating out of a trailer in the parking lot.
his IG says he’s at one of the Coni’Seafoods now, but who knows? either way, it’s rare i’ve had a bad snook at any of the C’S locations. just curious what he’s up to because he was also doing some ceviches and aguachiles that were truly spot on.
That backyard spot was so perfect in every way
