The best Italian sandwiches is going to be in Anaheim at Cortinas……Rocky Balboa (Philly Roast Pork), meatball, chicken or eggplant parm, prosciutto/tomato/basil/fresh mozz, Cortinas special.
that is a very generous way of looking at it. Yikes.
I need to get a sandwich from Cortino’s.
That damn parking lot is just so small otherwise I’d go more often.
The Orange location is only open on the weekdays with limited hours. No pizza and no market. But you can get all of the same sandwiches.
964 N Batavia St, Orange, CA
Definitely the best Italian subs in OC and up there with any of the LA heavyweights. My personal favorites are also the Rocky Balboa and Cortina’s special with hot peppers.
Another stop at pch and vermont night market. Definitely way less busy during the week.
La compita
Tacos dorado stand
Pico, salsa, and lettuce were very extremely fresh. The actual dorados tacos were good not excellent. My favorite was the patata y frijol. Also the tinga tostada was pretty good too.
Made it to Yoana’s.
The cabbage, salsas, and tortillas are good. I prefer the shrimp. I didn’t ask but I think they are using tilapia. Would come back again. I like the diced up cucumber too.
La Esplanoa Meats. I love that house sandwich. I think it’s low key one of the best sandwiches around. Probably gets overlooked because it’s European which means minimal ingredients in a sandwich. Stark contrast from typical NY deli sandwiches and Philly hoagies. Tried a tortilla too!
Yoanas is at the 110 pch night market?
How was that sausage sandwich from la espanola?
Yup they are on the weekends only Sat and Sun. Their stall is in the parking spaces.
I like the sausage very flavorful!
Speaking of I’ll need to go to El Gaucho to get the choripan with their chimichurri
YESS!!! I prefered the shrimp as well. I loved her condiment bar and that you could dress your own. Brilliance.
? where?
TY
Fig x PCH next to the 110. Wilmington Night Market. Sat and Sun only. Stall is in the parking lot.
WAIT. They sell their Ranch Dressing? Like at the shop… Namely El Segundo?
Is their ranch dressing that good (serious question)???
Yes and yes.
Just to clarify there are vendors there on weekdays but it seems to be limited to El Compita (tacos al carbon), Guelaguetza (fritanga tacos), sometimes a dessert truck, a churro/platano stand, and now recently a tacos dorados stand.
Weekends easily 3x as many vendors
How’s the suadero?
Not very good, guelaguetza is the least favorite of my places to go within that night market. If I were to get a taco there it would be buche, they do give out hefty portions of meat.
The problem is that they don’t let the meats stew long enough in the circular comal. They take the meats out prematurely chop them up and put them in the heating trays or leave them to crisp on the grill. They lose a lot of their juice and tenderness plus I’ve had some meats that were under done. Not sure if it’s line factor or laziness by the cooks. I wish there was better quality fritanga in the area.
At least they make their own tortillas
