I like truly pizza too if you didn’t try yet. Chris is one of the kindest person you will ever meet too.
I love truly pizza also! Probably my favorite square style.
Favorite neopolitan round is sei !
haha
Appetizer sampler from Sugo which recently opened. It’s a nice addition to the Promenade Mall. Between this and Misc Coffee it looks like the new owners are on the right track. There’s also “coming soon” signage about a new boba spot and a place that sells kolaches.
Worth checking out sugo? Their menu offerings looked eclectic but not necessarily in a good way.
So happy the mall is being revived tho!
I had the same thought about the menu - seemed a little all over the place but I’m guessing that’s them trying to cast a broad net (maybe not a bad idea given their historically tricky location). However, I enjoyed the sample platter. We also got the popovers and the kiddo got a pizza and both were solid. I’ll definitely be going back.
On another note Misc Coffee is really good and has been busy every time I’ve stopped by.
Saw a place on PCH and the avenues called Unico Tokyo Pasta.
Taste of China on PCH! Its part of that hotel (Ramada Inn or something) and used to be a different Chinese restaurant. They’ve brightened up the inside so it’s actually somewhat pleasant to eat there. I’ve only had the soup noodles but they are made in-house. Nice Q!!! The pickled cabbage and lamb is great and a huge bowl. I tried the golden lamb soup but the spice level destroyed me, even though it was good. Supposedly (YELP) their XLB are very good though I haven’t tried them yet. I’m still working my way through the menu but if the noodle soup is any indication, this could be a hidden, unexpected gem. Oh yeah, my wife did try the hong shao beef noodle soup and the broth was sweet and funky, which neither of us liked.
Saw unico it’s exciting that there’s a new spot there.
Have had my eye on this new Chinese place thanks for the report back, will need to grab food there at some point. The pictures on google look great
Report said it’s the same owner as Japonica. I am expecting similar targeted market.
Oh that is less exciting to me as japonica is meh
yeah, we go to Northern Cafe in Gardena a good amount. This has a very similar menu and is a lot closer to us!
Made it to Redwood Pie. Dayum… Crust is so freaking good. Crisp, chewy and airy. That’s the review.
Also hit up that Creamy Bros ice cream joint. Always long lines. Meh. Good flavor. Probably not sweet enough, which is a first for me. And I don’t love the texture which seems very whipped/airy.
Wow a northern cafe comparison, that sounds awesome will have to check it out.
Northern cafe is wayyy tooo far for us. Only place we go up that way maybe 2-3 times a year is otafuku and maybe now little china.
Tokyo Central grand opening on 14th Dec. Alma Backyard Farm is also opening up in San Pedro tomorrow.
hopefully they get a lot of great vendors at the tokyo central food court
I’ll stick to Spoon House and Akane than!
Akane is great. Doesn’t get mentioned enough.
