At Hi Time in Costa Mesa. Looks like mostly Petrossian no Astrea in sight.

The Le Creuset Factory to Table Event is back!!!
This year’s event is going to take place in Fairplex in Pomona. There is a charge for parking there unless you go to the uber fancy event on Friday.
And not surprisingly… I will be going to the Uber Fancy event on Friday 2:30. HOWEVER, there is a VIP event happening on Saturday which will have Mystery Boxes as well!
Here are the deets.
Thanks @Dommy!
OMG YES!!! so excited
Friday’s Premier shopping sessions are $45. The full-day Premier event will feature first access to the sale, the opportunity to purchase a mystery box, COMPLIMENTARY PARKING, reentry into Sunday’s general admission shopping sessions, enter-to-win and product giveaway opportunities, light snacks, refreshments, live music and more.
Saturday’s VIP shopping sessions are $25. The full-day VIP event will feature early access to the sale, the opportunity to purchase a mystery box, enter-to-win and product giveaway opportunities, refreshments, DJ and more.
Sunday’s general admission shopping sessions are $10.
One mystery box per attending ticket holder, per event, available ONLY during Premier and VIP sessions.
So I’m paying $45 for entry and the mystery box is a separate purchase? Am I reading it wrong?
Correct. On Friday you are paying 45 dollars for the first pick of items, light refreshments (That is what they had last time, like a giant cheese board and lemonade), Free admission to Sunday if you have second thoughts and not having to pay for parking (which is $15).
You could pay $25 instead for Saturday (parking not included so another $15).
In both cases, you have to make a separate purchase at the end of your shopping to get the Mystery Box, which is a separate purchase.
So all in with the box, you would be out $90 in Saturday. $95 on Friday. The box is said to have a value of at least $350… Honestly though, because the Mystery Box is such a crapshoot. I would not go if it’s only to get the box. But instead at least to get a good deal on a piece of cookwear which is anywhere from 40%-75% off (The outlet is typically 30% off).
So while this is a TREMENDOUS deal… it’s not a cheap outing… But it’s not until September so you have a little bit of time to start saving up… ![]()
the mystery box is $50? This is a dangerous thread.
The Mystery Box is $50. But if you were to add admissions and cost of parking. That is how I get the all in. Even though you pay for admission upfront.
Why is the box a crapshoot? How do they decide who gets a box? I only want the box. do I have to buy something else?
Meaning, there have been some funky boxes. There is no guarantee you will get any cast iron pieces. This person got 12 of these same mini cocottes…
If you only want the box… there is no need to purchase anything else. I would just hate for you to go and drive all that way and get a crazy box like that… Just be aware… Mystery Boxes are always a gamble…
The cocottes are kinda awesome tho
Deleted lol. I should’ve read further. Thanks for the good info.
Oh yeah… And these are like $25 each so they certainly got their $350 worth… Selling three on offer up and they up on what they paid with 9 to give for christmas, birthdays and weddings… But there has been some real random stuff in the boxes. Honestly, the report backs are part of the fun of this event… lol.
Some good things on sale this week at Whole Foods in Brea. I loaded up last week on the beef short ribs at $7.20 per lb which is significantly cheaper than H-Mart. If you listen to Dave Chang podcast he was ranting about how H-Mart meat prices are more expensive than Bristol Farms. He isn’t wrong. When Whole Foods has good sales you can save a lot of money on pork belly, beef short ribs, oxtails when available and other cuts of meat Asians frequently buy.
I’ve been buying the majority of my meat at Whole Foods based on sales and building our weekly dinner plans around sales but definitely focused more lately due to rising prices.
I loaded up on the peanut butter as well.
Does anyone know if Mary’s chicken is any good? It just seems to be branded factory chicken?
Also 4.90 is a great deal on organic pork belly.
Anyone know any method to see what kind of sales are going on at your local WF?
If you’re an Amazon Prime member you get an extra 10% off all sales. I use the Whole Foods app. You can also see weekly sales online for the stores near you because each store has different items on sale each week.
The St Louis ribs are also on sale for $4.99 regular price and an extra 10% off for Prime members.
I like the Mary’s chicken but we only buy these birds when they are on sale. We’ve smoked a few of these chickens and always had good results.
Thanks I’ll download whole foods app we only have the Amazon app currently.
I like Mary’s chicken although I prefer Jidori. Mary’s birds are pretty big, 4 - 5 lbs while the Jidoris are usually around 3 1/2.
I get weekly emails about the sales probably because I have the app.
There are different ones - non-organic, organic and heirloom (slow growing) - we had the heirloom ones and quite liked it as it has a bit more flavor
Mary’s heirloom might be the best “commercial” chicken you can buy in LA (in supermarkets, etc).
