Regier. Haven’t loved them yet this year but the last couple of summers they’ve had the best peaches I tasted.
Went to Hollywood for the first time in a long spell. When did it become a dog park?
Tenerelli june ladies were the business. Glad I got some if they’re closing down for the season. Got a musky, delicious Ogen from Weiser with a Canary on deck.
I went to HFM this weekend, too.
Arrival shortly after opening and it being a “slower” weekend according to the folks at Harry’s Berries means I had a full inventory to choose from. The Gaviotas are almost at prime, the Mara de Bois are still fun, but the seascapes are not quite there yet.
JG Berries raspberries are eating like candy right now. The blackberries are ginormous as well as delicious. I usually love the blueberries, but they are not as impressive as the other two.
The heirlooms from Valdivia made a fantastic tomato salad I added burrata to.
@mrgreenbeenz is correct in that Tenerelli June Lady are bangin’ and the Arctic Snow nectarines are also superb.
We also made stops at Ken’s and Arnett’s and made a giant stone fruit salad.
Murray’s had some cool candy grapes for the fam.
The corn at Underwood grilled up real nice.
There were a couple of melons at Weiser’s that disappeared as soon as I cut and set them out, and the one variety of potatoes that sold out quickly were terrific grilled. They had a delightful inherent sweetness that was just nice.
Grilled up some pork chops and secreto from Peads & Barnetts.
Highly recommend the Crazy Cucumber vendor…freshly and locally made pickles some with really complex and fun flavors.
I used this one trip to meal prep for the week.
Also stopped by Wake & Late for a breakfast burrito (good), a parm rip & dip bagel with scallion cream cheese (very good), and their new frozen coffee frostie (I don’t really like coffee and thought it was good).
Andy’s does pre-orders by the case for restaurant folks only. I think people for retail fruit start lining up by 730ish and they generally sell out between 9 and 10. Only the Wednesday SM market.
Thank you for all the peach vendor recs! I’m still letting my first Tenerelli yellow peaches of the season ripen on the counter. The apricots this season have been good but I was able to get into some apriums (apricot plum hybrid) and they had this amazing sweetness. They were a limited amount I picked up a couple of weeks ago and hoping they’ll be available next year too.
@mrgreenbeenz There’s still at least 1.5 months for Tenerelli from what I was told so I wouldn’t call them close to closing for the season. Plenty of time to dig in and I definitely plan to make a few more pickups. They usually were a later season producer though and were at farmer’s markets through late/end of September last year. So that’s at least a month earlier than last.
@helen_s Appreciate the Andy’s info!
What is that a line for?
Andy’s.
Last time I waited in a line that long it was for the movie Willow when I was in Grammer school ![]()
First, I’m happy for them.
Second you are right. There are lines all over at Mar Vista farmers market too… especially for Arnett’s. Again… good for them. I’ll see them at Culver on Tuesdays.
It’s really expensive but you can get Andy’s market produce at La home farm for all my eastsiders. Probs $10 a pound for stonefruit though ![]()

And at LA grocery and cafe!
Can’t speak for Andy’s, but the Smfm prices for stone fruit in general have been $4.50-$6/lb this year. Probably up about 50 cents to a dollar from last year.
Damn 6 a lb is starting to get eye watering
Following a highly publicised tour and bidding, Comedian sold at Sotheby’s during “The Now and Contemporary Evening Auction” on 20 November 2024 for US$5,200,000 ($6,240,000 after fees) …

I just looked at one of my invoices, and Andy’s sells most fruit for $7-9/lb retail at the Smfm so it’s not that huge of a markup.
Aren’t dogs not allowed at Farmers Markets unless they are service dogs?
You would think, but I’d say every seventh person in HFM had a poorly controlled dog (or two) last week. The cake-taker was some bitch whose female owner had dressed her in a conspicuous ‘service’ vest and then proceeded to take her ‘working animal’ around to give all the other dogs kisses.
