WSGV updates

Ning’s Jinzhou BBQ opened last year on Garvey Ave. in Monterey Park. Jinzhou is supposedly the BBQ capital of China. Don’t know if it had been previously represented in the SGV. Big crowds.

On Fire Hotpot moves within Monterey Park from Atlantic Times Square to the Hotpot Hotpot location on Atlantic and Garvey once occupied by Dragon Regency and the fake Little Sheep.

Okay, this is a style of food I’m totally unfamiliar w/. One Yelp review says it’s northeastern style skewers, and another review says it’s the best of the all the skewer joints.

Are there a lot skewer restaurants in the SGV???

Another review mentions guo bao rou. I assume this is the Chinese equivalent of tan soo yuk?

These days skewer restaurants may rank second behind hotpots as the most popular genre of Chinese restaurants in the SGV. They also often only open for dinner, so unless you live in the SGV your dining opportunities are restricted.

Hoping for a good HK cafe dinner tomorrow night. Been a minute since ive enjoyed. Where are people liking these days in the 626?

Baccali because it makes me feel like I’m in a real restaurant. EAT Bistro has great food, but less ambiance. Also a big fan of HK Macau Bistro.

Epic combo. I’ll share my Powerball jackpot with you if you do a selfie video in full bucket hat & parka regalia doing your best-reunion-tour-ever rendition of “Live Forever”

Wawaji, with $36 AYCE hotpot, opens in Monterey Park. Not even listed on internet yet. It’s at 120 S. Atlantic Blvd, where Dragon Regency opened 40 years ago and one of the fake Little Sheep restaurants opened 20 years ago.

this has nothing to do with the previous post, but a LONG time ago, banh mi my tho once advertised an expansion into the 168 at the intersection of new & valley. that never came to pass, mainly because the 168 didn’t do anything to fix up that space. that has since been rectified and they now offer cooked food at that location which is on the immediate left when you enter the southernmost point of egress.

Yu Fish opens in San Gabriel replacing Hibiscus Tree. Specializes in fish hotpots, particularly sauerkraut fish and Guizhou sour. This swai hotpot was awesome.

Is it the same concept as in Ktown (the former Mountain Cafe location)?

No this is hotpot style where you choose your style, soup base, extra ingredients.
