It’s been too many years since I last visited so I honestly don’t know. I need to revisit when 'Rona is gone.
FYI my friend went to DTF the other day with no reservation. Completely packed. Make sure you have a reservation. They were completely booked for the whole week.
Esther’s Kitchen
1130 S Casino Center Blvd #110
Las Vegas NV 89104
pappardelle | basil pesto, pine nuts, roasted mushrooms
These handmade pastas are fantastic in texture! Meanwhile, this basil pesto isn’t the typical in-your-face type of bold flavor. It’s much more restraint which I personally prefer. $14 only? Ya kidding me?! I’ll be back for sure to try more of their pasta. HIGHLY recommended.
naturally leavened pizza | pepperoni, local mozzarella, bianco’s tomato
This pizza’s not my style. The cornicione is doughy and the center’s a little soupy, flappy, thin, and not crisp. The sourdough crust, as a whole, is quite mild in sour flavor.
Fuku Burger
3429 S Jones Blvd
Las Vegas, NV 89146
karai | all-beef fuku-patty, pickled cucumbers, avocado cream, habenero kabayaki
I had high hope for this place but man was it a big disappointment. There’s no flavor to anything in this burger other than the sauce. NOTHING. Or is it because the sauce overpowered everything? I can’t tell.
The brioche(?) bun looked puffy and wonderful, but once I pressed into it so I can take a bite, the whole thing completely collapsed into oblivion…
Suzuya Patisserie
7365 S Buffalo Dr, Suite115
Las Vegas, NV 89113
fuji apple pie
Beautiful looking. Flaky crust. Caramelized apple isn’t too sweet but a little too soft for my taste.
custard cream puff
Very crisp in texture. Great stuff.
strawberry crepe | whipped cream, custard cream
These are darn soft and fluffy. HIGHLY recommended.
yuzu panna cotta
It’s a yogurt based panna cotta flavored with yuzu and topped with yuzu jelly. Smooth, creamy, and refreshing!
Bajamar made me really appreciate RFT post-downhill alert
Omakaze at Kabuto. Fantastic meal. Would highly recommend. Between Oui and Kabuto you can’t go wrong.
Shichida to start off. Excellent with all of the smoky dishes and served closer to room temperature.
Ankimo and bluefin with mustard vinegar.
Chawanmushi.
Shigoku oyster, sweet potato matcha ball and trio of sea bass, tai and yellowtail belly sashimi.
Kampachi with miso butter, langostine, scallop yuzu butter sauce and the best kabocha squash bite ever.
Bottle #2. Chose a dryer sake for sushi course.
Sea bream, bluefin tuna, scallop and Fujinosuke salmon.
Chu toro, hamachi, Kuruma prawn and ikura
Shiokko, Red Sea perch, hirame, o-toro and gyoku.
Kohada and banfan uni. Forgot to take a picture of the uni but man that was spectacular.
Toro hand roll
Match ice cream, mochi, hojicha jelly and red bean paste drizzled with caramel. I ate two of these
Anybody have new moderately priced/lunch type places on or near the strip? We are going to Vegas for 8 days - yes 8 days - for the Tae Kwon Do national championships. My son is competing. We’re staying at Park MGM so have good access to the tram and most hotels except Wynn part of the strip. On our list is the regular rotation of Raku, LoS and Carbone. We’ll probably throw in secret, pizza, shake shack and Eataly.
We want to try out Bing Bar, Moon Palace and the new Resorts World food court.
Soulbelly’s 3 meat plate was superb. I had pulled pork, brisket, and burnt ends. One plate should be enough food to feed 2.
Decent quick eat.
Majordomo
Thanks. I didn’t realize this was Bruce Kalman’s place. Looks good and I just went to the online menu and half the meats were sold out. Thats what I like to see.
Believe it or not, I had an excellent meal at STK in September. The dry aged ribeye was damn tasty and the king crab appetizer was superb. Was not expecting this place, of all places to have such a great steak. Place was packed on a weekday.
Late to this party and could even have replied to this before, but……
Kosher Bite, in Laguna Hills, always has whitefish salad and Bagels and Brew, Lake Forest and Mission Viejo, has the best bagels I’ve had since my co-worker’s family sold Brooklyn Bagel in LA.
Siegels Bagelmania is a good not great spot but for NY bagels it’s better than the Bagel Cafe near Summerlin. Bagels are on the larger side. They have nova on the menu but it’s really just lox. My son liked the lox tomato and caper open faced sandwich. Good options on different types of schmears. They toasted my bagel which I didn’t ask for and it melted a lot of my lox spread. Wife liked the bacon egg and cheese. For bagels in Las Vegas I’d either go to Siegels or Sadelles.
Then there is this flagel which is the size of a plate.
Curious soda selection.
I agree with your assessment of Siegel’s vs Bagel Cafe. Haven’t gotten around to trying the flagel yet but it looks interesting. Also, at their previous location, Bagelmania had pretty good standard breakfasts – I haven’t had a chance to try any of those at Siegel’s yet.
Pretty happy about this since Aria is one of the places we generally stay at or nearby. Wexler’s brings good variety. I don’t know much about the other vendors but more choice is always appealing. Between Park MGM, Cosmo and Aria there are a lot of good fast casual options that won’t break the bank for lunch.
Cosmo - Secret Pizza, Bang Bar, Hattie Bs
Aria - new food court, DTF
Park MGM - Eataly, Crack Shack, Shake Shack (ok its an extra 3 min walk to NY NY)
Cosmo has direct access via ped walkway to Planet Hollywood for further cheap eats, including the legendary Earl of Sandwich which is still 24/7 with most sandwiches < $10
How is Bang Bar anyway? Got somewhat interested but ended up being swayed away by Lardo, which was interesting and reasonably tasty.
I like em a lot. U wraps are tasty for what it is.
Bang bar is delicious but messy. We usually never go across Las Vegas Blvd for food in that area. MGM Grand is kinda terrible. Never really explored Planet Hollywood but thanks for the heads up. My wife loves Taco Bell and wants to try the cantina.
Did you guys know that Raku is on Resy now? I had no clue. They take reservations 2 months in advance. So much better than calling during the day.
I get probably 1.5 days. We get there Sunday evening and then have to run home Tuesday midday.
Planned:
Dinner at LoS
Snack at Soul Belly
Dinner at Raku
We usually do the Cosmo-Aria-Park MGM crawl.
That is basically our itinerary except we are there for 3.5 days so we need an extra dinner or two. If daddy is winning at the tables its Carbone or Bavette’s steakhouse. If he is losing its Tacos El Gordo or White Castle.
