Warrior: Every dish 5/5, best of class in LA for me (including unpictured green salad) I don’t love the cocktails though.

Peony: Good flavor as always.

I’m curious to see how this “no pizza” idea works out. I’ve been twice, and it seemed like the pizza was driving a lot of the business — it felt like there was a pizza on every table, with many tables being families getting salad, pizza, meatballs, ice cream, etc.

For what it’s worth, here’s the Resy for a table for two for tomorrow, when they switch over to “no pizza”:

The “lasagna” looked real good. They made it from what looked like the dough you’d use to make focaccia di recco, folded onto itself.

I think they will have more pastas.

Arguably the best thing on the menu is the cow. Damn that cow tastes good. It’s as rare as I’ve ever eaten steak.

resy page now says

We have expanded our menu of proteins, pizzas & pastas.

Yeah, the “no pizza” thing might have been real quick. For what it’s worth, I had been checking Resy this week to see if no-pizza was having an impact and, for a party of two, there were tables open for every single day at every single time. That was not the case in prior weeks / months.

And here’s their IG from a couple hours ago, making clear that pizzas are very much available:

It would be great if they posted their new menu - thinking about going tomorrow.

+1 we need some menu recon

Seems like the options are:
(a) Leopardo that serves pizza but maybe doesn’t fully realize the chef’s creative vision
(b) Leopardo that fully realizes the chef’s creative vision but is closed within a year due to lack of business

I’m glad they chose (a)

I just reached out to the restaurant and received this menu. Leaving it here for others to comment on. Would much rather go to Republique at this price point.

Thanks a lot for posting. That’s super helpful.

So they kept pizza, but only the ridiculously expensive ones (I know, the ingredients are expensive, but that doesn’t change my point)

I had wanted to try Leopardo, but this latest menu just turns me off. Perhaps part of that is knowing what the menu used to look like. I think they shot themselves in the foot a bit.

I went to Leopardo two weeks ago. A menu I saw from a week or so before that had three pizzas that were something like $120 to $220 (Hokkaido uni, truffles, caviar), but when I was there they had three at $28-30 and two around $80 (Perigord black truffle and smoked king salmon with its roe).

I really think their problem is that they can’t turn out pizzas fast enough (from experience). If they have a $25 pizza, too many people are going to order it, and it backs everything up.

That menu is bordering on comical

This is a mistake. They dropped (what it seemed to me to be) their most popular main: a fairly priced, red sauce pizza. They now have only four mains. The cheapest one is a $50 “lasagna.” The other three are a $75 salmon pizza, a $80 truffle and mushroom white pizza, and a $120 chicken that takes 45 minutes. A few weeks ago, I was there on a Friday around 10pm and they were packed with people ordering drinks, salad, pizza, steak, meatballs, and ice-cream.

What are they doing?

they probably need multiple ovens, or way more oven space, for $25 pizza to make sense

This sounds like a badass meal tho

Tilefish crudo
Buffalo milk curds
Melon and culatello
Handkerchief pasta
Mushroom pizza
soft cream and caramel
