If you see it, I would get the Ikura, Salmon, Scallops because they don’t have it very often.
Sometimes the salsa seca has oxtails, sometimes potatoes.
Yeah, that’s delicious and unique. Modest portion for four to share.
APL short ribs all the way, I’ve only gone with 4 people and that is the must order every time. In my opinion, it’s the star, everything else is a bonus…
Can the answer be both? How big is your party? If it’s your first time I definitely recommend the apl ribs.
For four people I would order the following:
Butter and honey (ask if they can shave black truffles on it, worth it)
Chickpea hozon
Spicy lamb
Duck liver mousse
Fried oxtail
Stuffed peppers
Avocado and tofu or fried cauliflower
Tapioca lo mein or macaroni and chickpea
Crispy pork belly or black cod
Bs fries
Apl ribs, make sure to reserve in advance
Kakigori

Forgot about the dessert, definitely the kakigori, I don’t really care for the horchata one but if it’s a citrus one, get that. Haven’t tried but ask for extra meringue
Only 4 of us so I don’t think we can pull the double duty
That’s totally doable if you don’t mind being stuffed. Our group of 4, with 2 of them being girls, had 4 bings, 2 appetizers, bs fries, duck rice, apl ribs and kakigori…
I think we might be able to handle that but throwing a donabe on top of that would be rough unless we subbed a dish out.
Thank you all for the recommendations. Id held off for a long time going to majordomo due to my poor experiences at David Chang’s other restaurants and I probably would have never gone if not for the glowing reviews of other ftcers.
Didn’t take a lot of pics but pretty much everything has been covered ad infinitum both in pictures and writing.
We had two bings, egg and roe and the duck liver mousse, bounty bowl, hozon and black truffle macaroni, stuffed peppers, whole plate short ribs, kakigori, and the elusive bs fries. Food was all phenomenal with highlights being the bs fries, stuffed pepper, and the short ribs.
Waiter said the bs fries depend on the mood of the kitchen and whether they think they will have enough for pairing with the rib eyes. But be sure to ask and they might just hook you up!
Service was friendly and very professional the sommelier recommended a delicious orange wine for dinner that paired well with the short ribs and the black truffle macaroni. They also make a very good Japanese whiskey highball.
Only thing I did not love was the fried rice with the short rib trimmings. The horseradish was over powering and muted the taste of the perilla/sesame seeds and the lemon zest. I get the thought behind the horseradish to combat the heaviness of the ribs but it really didn’t work for me.
Overall a fabulous dining experience and on par with our favorites of republique and bestia. We are two for two in recent weeks of dinners exceeding expectationswith this dinner and the guerilla tacos omakase. Will definitely return to try the salmon donabe and other dishes in the future.
mirrored my thoughts
Is two bings enough for all that?
We had more than 2 bings. I think 4. Can’t remember, it’s been awhile since that lunch. Kevin’s backlog is longer than the federal government for Global Entry interviews. But Kevin takes great notes during the meal, it’s nice to look back on something that happened months ago. That butter + maple was pretty incredible, especially as it hit room temp and got gooey.
