Stopped at That’s It on the way to 24th Mission BART and saw the most disgusting thing ever
The cook barehanded some chorizo and threw it on the plancha. Went to the sink to “wash” her hands for 5 seconds with just water. Threw my torta away and walked out. It’s not even on a real torta roll
Had a Mission burrito and the tortilla was horrible. I can get better tortillas at Vallarta. Sorry SF.

If you want something excellent in that immediate neighborhood, get pupusas at La Santaneca. If you luck out the pan de elote guy might pass through while you’re there.
Mission burritos have never been about good tortillas.

they DGAF about sanitation. Wow. if a cook feels empowered to do that in front of customers what are they doing in private?

oh man some good memories at Toronado. used to get some sausages from Rosamunde’s next door (when it was still on Haight) - one duck, one hot italian - and sample the taps. godspeed.

Hah, had a close to identical meal tonight (though halved, since I was solo). Wish they’d had the poached pear on the menu; would’ve ordered that in over the budino in a heartbeat.
Crostone & papardelle both excellent, budino merely good. I think desserts have always been a bit of a weak point here, though agree with the overall assessment.
just want to re-iterate the quality at BaklavaStory. the person running it has that artisanal/shokunin vibes.

Was at SF General for some morning business so I spent the day in the Mission.
Limoncello. Veggie on dutch crunch.
Senor Sisig. Vegan with tofu. The tofu was a little on sweet side but the salsa made up for it I guess.
Cafe De Olla. Vegan tamale with chepil. Tastes like spinach.
Also visited
Dolores Park is always nice. I loved walking down 24th St. So many beautiful and colorful murals. I don’t think I ever seen so many in a neighborhood. Noe Valley is nice but slightly boring from the looks of it. That’s a good thing if you are pushing strollers I guess. Anyways walked over to Little Chihuahua with the intention of getting the plantain black bean burrito. Just couldn’t do it after Senor Sisig. There a sandwich spot next to it that smelled so good
Jumped on the Millbrae line and back to the hotel. Nice little path for me to run next to the Bay in Burlingame. Saw 2 Canto spots and a Benihana lol

Dog Eared Books is a nice book shop - overall SF/Bay Area has some interesting book shops

Parts of the Tenderloin are dangerous even during the day, but that doesn’t make Noe Valley any less boring. There’s at least one restaurant worth a visit there, Firefly.
Noe Valley has some nice areas to walk around and I would call it far from boring. It has also some good restaurants beyond Firefly, like Uma Casa, Lupa, Momento, Fiorella, Billingsgate, Bistro Ember and La Copa Loca for great sundays
… and I especially miss La Ciccia.

Has anybody gone recently to the “new” iteration ? Worth visiting (it might be not classical La Cicca but still a good restaurant) ?
Massimo and Lorella have a new place, Binu Bonu. They sold La Ciccia but a friend told me it’s still good.
As a former Noe Valley resident, it’s boring as fuck. Kind of like Palo Alto or Piedmont. Too much money.
