Actually Lily’s Kitchen flipped last year without a name change from pho to Dongbei noodles. So your window closed a longer time ago.

i was kinda wondering how you could tell until i saw the second pic. and btw, vege paradise that used to be in focus plaza relocated a block or so west on valley and renamed themselves vege valley.

Yeah Vege Paradise moved out of Focus Plaza temporarily last year when the reconstruction started. Supposedly they used the new moniker when they moved next door as they intended to reopen Vege Paradise when the construction was done and operate both. But I guess that might not happen.

More Toishanese food in El Monte at Fuyi Kitchen on Garvey. Fuyi takes over the spot vacated by Auntie Kitchen which moved to San Gabriel. Fuyi’s menu includes a section called country style dishes which they describe as a combination of Toishanese and Cantonese food.

Finally tried Yoma!

Shan noodle, tofu salad, and tea leaf salad. I thought it was all very tasty.

Picked up a bag of frozen dumplings at Hui Tou Xiang and I noticed Summer Rolls is opening up soon.

I’ve always really liked the food at Yoma. Definitely tasty. Non-food factors have kept me from returning / can’t get something out of my mind.

Just as I’m about to add yoma to my list. Pls share your negative experience

Okay. Well, my fork was dirty. But not just dirty. The sides of the tines of the fork on the inside were crusted over with layers of accumulated food that halfway bridged the gap between the tines in some places. This experience converted a place that I pleasantly thought of as “homey” to a place I haven’t returned to in years.

thanks for sharing! always cringe to see something like that. I’ll report back if its still an issue. What are must get items there (in addition to mark’s order)?

Tea leaf salad always comes to mind as the must-order at any Burmese restaurant.

The shan tofu salad is very good.

Honestly, I’ve liked every single thing there.
